What is Rush?

Rush consists of events held during the Welcome Week through 2nd week of fall quarter where interested student and potential members can get to know the brothers of Nu Alpha Kappa Fraternity, Inc.

 



How do I rush?

Easy… Just drop by our information tables, ask us questions, and pick up a list of event that will be hosting through out rush week. Attend any or all of the events with the purpose of you getting to know us and us getting to know you. You may find the list of events via our website, flyers through out campus, and/or at our information table.

 



Does it cost anything to rush?

No, ALL of the events are free to ALL rushees with NO obligations.

 



Does it cost anything to be a member? DUES?

No. We are one of the only fraternities that does not charge monetary dues to be considered as an active member of our brotherhood. We pay for events through active fundraising with food sales, working at the Petco Park baseball games, Qualcomm football games and parties.

 



What kind of activities does Nu Alpha Kappa Fraternity, Inc host?

The events that we host all represent our three pillars, which are Academic, Brotherhood, and Culture/Community Service. Specifically, we host a number of fundraisers, parties, exchanges with other Greeks (which fulfill the brotherhood and social aspect), Marrow Donor Registration Drives, Tutoring/Mentoring programs, Relay for Life (which fulfill or Culture and Community service), arranged study hours, a study buddy system (which fulfills some of our academic goal), and much more.

 



What is the mission of Nu Alpha Kappa?

The mission of NAK is to promote lifelong brotherhood, leadership, dedication to the community, and awareness of Latin American issues. From our very modest beginning, to our present status as a model for enlightened brotherhood, we are proud to live according to the mission statement adopted by our Founding Fathers. "We, NU ALPHA KAPPA, seek to unite and involve all students in a more harmonious and brotherly atmosphere through academic, social and cultural means. There is a need to interface the various backgrounds that constitute the student body of our fraternal university chapter, in order to improve relations amongst all students and the community.

 



What is pledging?

Pledging is perhaps the most important part in understanding the values of our Brotherhood within Nu Alpha Kappa Fraternity, Inc. (NAK). When you decide to pledge NAK, it is nothing more than a promise. It is a promise to a life-long dedication to all of the ideals and purposes of the Academics, Brotherhood, and Culture/Community Service. This promise is made to all those who aspire to it, regardless of social, racial, or personal preference. Throughout the pledging period you will be faced with actives, obstacles, and decisions that will challenge your own beliefs and help you become stronger individuals; yet develop the skills of teamwork. With our encouragement, guidance, and support NAK will become a support system to help you achieve academic excellence, social growth, and a better understanding of what NAK is.

 



Does Nu Alpha Kappa Fraternity Inc. HAZE?

NO, Nu Alpha Kappa Fraternity Inc. has a no hazing policy that abides all government --city, state, and university-- laws, regulations, policy, and standards.
